Today I did my passion project (my stone carving). I was making it smooth by using sand paper but its still pretty rough around the front. The face and the front legs need sanding and the horns on the side need more carved into.

Today I did P.4.C with Alana. The question that we were doing it about was 'do humans have the right to pollute'. It was a hard question in my opinion, but after we talked about it I thought the answer was no because the earth is not ours to pollute. After Alana started talking about if every family changed to two glass bottles of milk and reused them Invercargill would produce heaps less rubbish. We thought that because, if theres roughly 10,000 families in Invercargill and every family uses two milk cartons a week thats 20,000 milk cartons coming out of Invercargill each week! Thats 1,040,000 cartons a year!

Today I watched a video about the ten most polluted cities in the world. The most polluted city in the world is Ahvaz in Iran with 372 micrograms of pollutants per cubic meter which is heaps compared with a normal city like LA, which has 25 micrograms per cubic meter! In some of the photos it looks like there's really thick fog but really it's the middle of the day and there's just heaps of smoke from the factories. Once the pollution was so bad in the Netherlands, the water that was being evaporated had so many tiny harmful particles that when it rained it was like acid! Acid rain imagine that! We were surprised that Beijing wasn't there, or any of China's cities, but then Darryn told us that since China's govourment controls the information that is released about their country, the Chinese government would have told them to not put China's cities on the top ten polluted cities. After watching this video lots of us wanted to know what the ten cleanest cities were, and the cleanest city in the world is Wellington!

Today

Today in the morning I played chess against one of the teachers and won. Then after that I did the Environment project again. We finished off an flipchart that were going to show to the ILT to ask for permission to do the murals and we redid some of the plans with chalk in the alleyway.  Then after Morning tea we all saw a video of the polluted water and how it is affecting animal life and humans. It made me think of what is happening outside my environment and it was really sad to see so many animals hurt and because of the pollution turtles and tortoises are nearly extinct. :(
